The same clinic, in remote format

Online consultation is, in every clinically relevant respect, identical to in-person consultation. The same duration, the same ethical framework, the same level of technical rigour and the same confidentiality.

Contemporary research — particularly since the pandemic — demonstrates comparable efficacy between the two formats for most clinical presentations. What changes is the channel, not the work.

Online consultation is not a substitute. It is a legitimate form of clinical practice — provided it is conducted with the technical and ethical care that the therapeutic relationship always requires. Psingular · On Modalities

For Psingular, online consultation is not a plan B. It is a legitimate response — above all for those who live far from Braga, for Portuguese people abroad, or for those who need the flexibility that everyday life today so often demands.

The right format for you

Online consultation is especially suited to situations in which travelling to the clinic is difficult — because of geography, schedule or availability. Some typical situations:

01

Portuguese people abroad

In any time zone. Working with a psychologist who speaks your language and understands your culture — without having to look for therapy in a foreign country.

02

Outside the Braga area

For those who live further away — Lisbon, Porto, the Azores, Madeira, the interior. Access Psingular care without having to travel every week.

03

Demanding schedules

Professionals with complex hours, frequent travel or unpredictable weeks. Online consultation makes it possible to keep the therapeutic rhythm despite the circumstances.

04

Reduced mobility

People with physical limitations, chronic illness, or in recovery. For those for whom getting to the clinic is a real obstacle.

05

Flexible combination

For those who combine in-person and online — in-person sessions when in Braga, online when travelling or living temporarily in another city.

06

Personal preference

Some people feel more comfortable speaking from home — in their own safe, familiar surroundings. That preference is legitimate and respected.

How it works, technically

A simple set-up, but a considered one. Technical and environmental conditions are part of the clinical frame — not incidental details.

Before the first session, we share practical instructions to ensure that the time is entirely yours.

01

Booking and advance payment

The first consultation is booked by email or through the form. Payment is made by bank transfer or MB Way, by the day before the session.

02

Link and technical instructions

You will receive an access link and clear set-up instructions: a private space, headphones, a stable connection. Everything you need for the session to run smoothly.

03

Session on the encrypted platform

We use a professional, encrypted, GDPR-compliant platform. No logging, no recording, no sharing of data with third parties.

04

Continuing the process

From then on, sessions at the agreed frequency — weekly or fortnightly — exactly as in in-person care. The therapeutic process unfolds at your pace.

"The therapeutic space is not a geographical place. It is a human place."

Questions that often arise

Is online consultation really as effective as in-person?

Research published in recent years — especially since the pandemic, which served as a large-scale trial — shows comparable efficacy between the two formats for most clinical presentations. There are exceptions: acute crisis situations, certain severe conditions and work with children benefit more from physical presence. We discuss this openly in the first consultation.

Can I have online consultations while abroad?

Yes, we regularly work with Portuguese people all over the world. We adjust the schedule to your time zone, and the logistics adapt. The advantage of working with a Portuguese psychologist is being able to think through your experience in your own language and culture — something many find decisive when trying psychotherapy abroad.

Is it secure from a privacy point of view?

The platform we use is end-to-end encrypted, professional and GDPR-compliant. We do not record sessions. We do not store content. Clinical data are subject to the same security regime as in-person consultation — professional secrecy and enhanced protection for clinical data (Art. 9 GDPR).

What if the connection drops?

It happens. We have a protocol for it: we try to reconnect and, if that is not possible, we complete the session by phone. Time lost to technical faults is deducted from the following session. We do not charge for sessions interrupted by technical problems not attributable to the client.

Can I combine in-person and online consultations?

Yes, it is common. Some people attend mostly in person and use online sessions when travelling or temporarily in another city. Others work mostly online and book in-person sessions at specific moments. The format adapts to your life, not the other way round.

The first step is just a conversation.

The assessment consultation does not commit you to continuing. It is simply a chance to get to know each other and to see, together, whether it makes sense for us to work together.
